Multiplying by 10, 100, 1000
When we multiply a whole number by 10, 100 or 1000 we often just choose a cheat method and add some zeros to the original number. This method works for whole numbers but NOT for decimal numbers. It's all about place value and moving the decimal point.
Practise x10, x100 and x1000 mentally by working on this activity. Work through the activities in order. Click HERE to access the activity.
Now it's time to practise multiplying by any multiple of 10, 100 or 1000. All of the following activities will help you practise this skill. Make sure you write a neat heading and the date in your Maths book. Number each question and write the question and the answer. Show your teacher when you are finished so your work can be marked.
